Light Troubles
The new light I bought for the hospital tank turned out to be a pain in the arse. The first one failed within minutes of turning on, and so I exchanged it for another today. Guess I should have tested it more at the store, because that one too, failed. The smell of burnt electricals is never a good sign.
Luckily I have a good aquarium shop, and I rang them and they offered to exchange the second light for a different, better brand, and so I made the journey down there, yet again.
The store, by the way, is Seaview Aquariums, and I highly recommend them.
If you are curious about which light to avoid, this is it:

and the light I've replaced it with is:

That's an Aqua One PR-18. It's not quite as bright, taking a 18W, 7500K compact flouro, as opposed to the Jebo which had a 24W, 10,000K lamp. But it's more solidly built and a better looking light.
So all's well that ends well. I have a $100 light for the price of 3 trips to the store and $87.
