Peppered Cory
Another new addition to the tanks. Currently residing in the Quarantine tank these will eventually become the companions for the tetras in the fish-cam tank. That will probably happen around the same time I change to a sand substrate, which they prefer.
The following information is from The Tropical Tank a useful site for quick information on a range of species.
Corydoras paleatus
Common name: Peppered cory
Size: Up to 4" (10cm)
Origin: S. America: Brazil and Argentina
Tank setup: Planted tank, preferably with sand or other smooth substrate
Compatibility: Peaceful, community
Temperature: 20-26oC (68-79oF)
Water chemistry: Clear, neutral water, exact pH and hardness values not critical.
Feeding: Omnivore: Sinking pellets and granular foods, frozen/live foods
Sexing: Females are larger than males, with a more rounded shape.
Breeding: Will spawn easily if the water quality is good, in typical Corydoras fashion.
Comments: One of the larger Corydoras, this is a popular species for the community tank. These catfish are hardy, long-lived and easy to breed, and therefore make ideal fish for beginners.
